The Programs We Fund

The Durham Children’s Aid Foundation (DCAF) supports the children/youth served by the Durham Children’s Aid Society.  DCAF does not receive any government funding and raises funds for programs aimed at enhancing the everyday lives of children and youth based on the program priorities by the Society.  Each year, over 2500 children and families are served through Durham Children’s Aid Foundation’s funded initiatives, which include:

Holiday Hope (The gift of Hope)

Each year, DCAF facilitates the Holiday Hope program that provides gift hampers for 2000 children/youth across Durham region.  Each hamper includes an age relevant toy, new clothes and a food voucher.

Summer Camp (The gift of Play)

Each year, approximately 450 “at home” children/youth have the opportunity to attend up to two weeks of a summer camp of their choosing.

Post-Secondary Bursary Program (The gift of a Brighter Future)

DCAF provides post-secondary bursaries for every youth in care who has successfully applied to a post-secondary college or university.  In 2019, DCAF provided over 40 bursaries that valued approximately $60,000.
