Holiday Hope
Join us in putting hope back into the holiday season!
Through our Holiday Hope gift hamper program, we provide age-appropriate toys, necessities, clothing, and grocery gift cards to over 1100 children and youth in vulnerable situations across the Durham Region. With more than 570 hampers distributed in December and throughout the year, we celebrate the diversity of our community, ensuring every family has access to this program for their unique gift-giving observances.
Together, let’s make this season brighter for everyone
How can you help?
- Gift Hamper Matching Program: Connect with a child, youth, or family in need. Receive details like family stories, ages, sizes, and specific interests to customize your purchases and provide tailored support.
- Financial Donation: Sponsor a family or youth independently. Your funds (e.g., $150 per child plus $100 grocery gift card) create hampers filled with essential goods.
- Monetary Donation: Contribute to purchase specific items or gift cards for unmatched youth or families.
- Donate Gift Cards: Provide individual hampers with gift cards.
Your generous support brings the gift of HOPE to children and youth. Whether participating individually, with family, neighbors, or friends, consider sponsoring families as a staff event instead of a gift exchange. If you can’t assemble a hamper, any monetary donation helps toward purchasing items or gift cards. Let’s make this season brighter together.
Holiday Hope Gift Hamper Guidelines
As a general guideline, DCAF suggests $150 per child or youth and a $100 grocery gift card per family. The gift card will help the family purchase food for a holiday meal that represents the family’s own traditions and beliefs. For example, $400 would provide a hamper for a family with two children. All eligible contributions may receive a charitable tax receipt if requested.
During the busy holiday season, by supporting the Holiday Hope program, you are demonstrating the true meaning of the holidays. Giving. Giving Hope. For additional information or to be matched with a family or youth living on their own, please contact: Leslie McLean, Manager – Signature Programs leslie.mclean@durhamcaf.ca or download a copy of the Program Details .

GM Canada and their ongoing support of Holiday Hope.
General Motors Canada supports the legacy of Sharon Clark through their donations over the past number of years, having raffled off the last truck off the line at Oshawa Assembly Plant and donation of two Corvettes as part of Corvettes for Kids. Special thanks to Paul Sadlon Motors for their tremendous support of Sharon’s Kids and DCAF. Most recently, GM Canada sponsored a National Dealer Contest for VIN001 – first pick-up truck off the new assembly line in Oshawa and a red Z06 Chevrolet Corvette. Thanks to all of the GM Dealers across Canada for their support. When GM Canada states ‘Everybody in,’ they mean it.
Thanks is also extended to all of the office (local and national) and Oshawa Assembly Plant staff from GM Canada and Unifor for their incredible support.
Since 2018, GM Canada has raised over $625,000 in support of Sharon’s Kids.
Special thanks to our generous supporters for gifting the invaluable power of hope.
