Sweet Dreams and DCAF

On Thursday, November 17th, Sweet Dreams presented 309 new pairs of pajamas to the Durham Children’s Aid Foundation.  Sweet Dreams is a volunteer initiative founded in 2011 by Carolyn Mills in Peterborough. Over the last few years, Sweet Dreams has provided 1,800 pair pyjamas/sleepwear and raised over $20,023.38 through cash donations to support children in the Kawarthas area via programs and services facilitated by the Children’s Aid Foundation and local YMCA.

In 2014, Carolyn’s daughter Sandra Kelly who lives in Durham region, founded the Durham chapter of Sweet Dreams.  Sandra recruited her employer OPG to support this unique initiative.  In 2016 the Durham Chapter was able to procure 618 pairs of pajamas that would be distributed to the local YMCA and Durham Children’s Aid Foundation.

Carolyn believes that all kids should have brand new pajamas, “ I believe in the importance of helping children and for them to have a good night sleep.  As my retirement date of June 30, 2011 was approaching.  I knew I had some contacts and the ability to provide a service to those children.  I put together excellent partnerships with groups and businesses who would donate the pyjamas and sleepwear and the agencies who would distribute the items.  Through partnerships, all these children will be having sweet dreams.

Thank you Sweet Dreams!
