The Durham Children’s Aid Foundation was
founded to help children
The majority of the funds raised are dedicated
to helping children involved with the Durham
Children’s Aid Society. The remaining funds
are used to fund programs from other children’s
service providers in Durham Region. It is a wonderful
objective, one that extends care and support beyond
the client base of the Durham Children’s
Aid Society to those agencies and families trying
to make a difference in the lives of children.
Durham Children’s Aid Society opertated a Children’s
Fund for many years. The fund assisted with programs
for children that were not covered by government
funding. Unfortunately, the need for such services
grew considerably over the years. As the Durham
Children’s Aid Society celebrated one hundred
years of service and prepared to move into the
next century, the Board of Directors undertook
the initiative to create a foundation.
In June 2004, the Durham Children’s Aid
Foundation became an official registered charity.
Durham Children’s Aid
Foundation is committed to bringing people and
financial resources together to improve the quality
of life for children and youth, and to help them
reach their full potential.
